Visit to Great War Huts
18/04/2023 @ 10:30 am - 3:00 pm
£20
A visit has been arranged for NCS members and their friends to the Great War Huts. This is a fascinating First World War Heritage project, containing original military prefabricated huts built to house the service men and women who served in the 1914-18 war. You will also be able to see trenches which mirror those used on the western front. The site has been used for several documentaries and film sets. Our guide and speaker for the visit is the military historian, Taff Gillingham.
We very much hope you and your friends will be able to join us for what should be a most interesting morning and lunch. The programme for the visit is below.
- 10.30am: Meet for tea/coffee There is a large car park at the site.
- 11.15am: Talk by Taff Gillingham on ‘Great War Huts; an accidental First World War heritage project’.
- 12.30pm: Light lunch
- After lunch, there will be a guided tour of the site. Good walking shoes are recommended.
